This is understandable. Lilly white socialist suburban housewives are usually married to liberal Nancy men who cower in the corner at the first sign of danger. They have created this fantasy in their minds, that with enough government restrictions on freedom, government will somehow be able to protect them when their hubbies can't/won't. Of course it's only a fantasy, but it makes them feel better.
