EPA Defends Right to Regulate Rain

Can you believe the EPA wanted to regulate rain? It is true. They claim that rainfall can be considered a pollutant if there is too much of it and therefore they can regulate our handling of it.

In the process of regulating everything under the sun, (literally) the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently made a bold grab at regulating everything from the clouds as well. More specifically, they had to defend themselves in a court case in Virginia for the right to regulate the rainfall.

The very fact that they would attempt something so bizarre is a clear indication that despite the departure of their red tape-wielding leader Lisa Jackson, the EPA has no intentions of easing off the regulatory gas pedal.

A Fox report explains why the EPA legitimately thought that rainwater could be regulated as a pollutant:

"The EPA contended that water itself can be regulated as a pollutant if there's too much of it. The agency says heavy runoff is having a negative impact on Accotink Creek and that it has the regulatory authority to remedy the situation.”

Wait a minute. So all we have to do is regulate rain and we can stop all these droughts and floods? Why didn’t someone think of this sooner?

Silly me, this is a Federal Government regulation. I forgot that means even more droughts, even more floods, and another trillion in debt to mis-manage it all.

They've done it here locally. We had a local property owner (he has about 2-300 acres) that got a county permit for a pond. It was for fire supression and for emergency use (everyone in Shady Cove/Trail is well water.

AFTER HE BUILT IT the feds threw a fit and forced thegood limp wrist county officials to REVOKE the permit. AFTER IT WAS BUILT. So he fought a court battle and lost. While HE WAS IN JAIL the county FIRE DISTRICT USED THE POND TO FIGHT A FORREST FIRE (with his written permission)!!!!!!!

that's freaking outrageous!

90 days in jail......

We had about a thousand people show up and protest.

Heard of similar situations in CO, but related to land & water rights. A women installed a rain-water collection system for her property. Got in a ton of trouble due to an old rancher's law which prohibits the restriction of natural water flow to neighboring properties - back from the days when rancher's would damn rivers & creaks within their property. Huge court fight too but had to remove the system.
