...as an alchoholic is to booze.

Think about it...the Messiah acts like an addict. He can't get enough...then when you tell him he has a problem he gets mad and tells you that he does not have a problem, you have the problem. He just got a tax increase...what...a month ago...and he is back for more?

Not sure how your reference to gas prices has anything to do with my comparison to Obama acting like an addict. Or...were you trying to be funny? If so, FAIL.

While you may consider it an "emotional outburst", please do your level best to prove otherwise. The man is addicted to spending...it is a fair comparison.

Conversely, sometimes an issue is simple...people just like to act like it is complex so they do not have to engage in a conversation about it...and treat the rest of us like we are too dumb to grasp the complexities. Reminds me of a lib professor I used to teach with...

I would believe you thought so. Seems lots of people do.

Your assertion that current government spending is based on the President having a behavior disorder is undemonstrated and without merit. It is nothing more than your frustration taking to print.

Perhaps that 'lib professor' didn't have much of an audience . . . . .

Thank you for demonstrating my point. I guess the budget is just too complex for those of us that only balance the budgets of our households or businesses.

No, the federal budget is not simple but SHOULD be. That is the problem. How should funds be spent? If you approach it logically rather than emotionally that is easy to determine. Unfortunately, liberalism views the world through the lens of feelings and gray areas which just mucks everything up.

As for my comparison being without merit, simply look at the President’s behavior and that of an addict. If you cannot see the parallels or refuse to acknowledge the similarity, than this conversation is over as I can only infer that you are (most likely) blinded by you biases.

Of course I was for the wars. Everyone knows we conservatives love kill’n and stuff, almost as much as we love starv’n poor women and children.

This is probably going to shock you, but as a Libertarian, I was against the wars due to my political beliefs. As a Christian who follows Covenant Reform Theology (the Theology of the Reformers, which sadly is now the minority Christian view in the US), I also opposed the war with Iraq on moral grounds. Reform Theology teaches that any war that is not defensive is immoral. It could be argued that the first Gulf War was in defense of Kuwait, and therefore moral. It could also be argued that the Afghan War was in defense of our nation, which had been attacked, though that argument is weak. The Iraq War was not defensive, but an aggression by the US, and therefore immoral.

Leaving Jersey is going to take a while. The new place news a few months of work (paint, new kitchen, new baths, hardwood floors, deck replacement, etc.), and the old place needs work before I can put it on the market. Plus I have to do it all while trying to feed my family in this crap economy. But thanks for asking.

Going to try to make an arguement may seem a bit all over the place but bare with me going to try to put it all together in the end.

1) This country would be in a lot of better shape if it simply got away from socialism. Many of todays elected officials that are "democrat" are nothing more than socialist at heart. One of socialisms beliefs is to pretty much make everyone equal no rich, no middle class, no poor. We went from being a nation that one feared a strong federal government and having a independent spirit. To becoming reliant on the government for just about everything, but don't ask us to pay for it. Universal health care. GREAT! But don't want to pay for it. Social Security, GREAT! Just don't cut the amount I will be receiving. Have no job? GREAT! Theres always unemployment benefits, which we could always extend out again, and again, and again, and again.

2) Now our economy is based on captalism, which is not conductive to a socialist point of view. Those who have money will often make more money, and can potentially loose it as well. Now those with no money can eventually become wealthy as well if they play their hands right in the decisions that they make in life and in business.

3) On this note I will start it out saying this I AM NOT RICH BY ANY MEANS. Now having said that and hopefully you understand that comming from me the following will seem ironic to some people but here goes. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT PAY ENOUGH TAXES! And that would include me as well. The wealthy in the US pay in my opinion more than their share and yet we ask them to pay more. Look at California, they are raising the states income tax on the wealthy, now combine that with the federal income tax, those who are wealthy in California are now facing to have to pay a whopping 56% tax on their income. Now think about this people are free to live where they want, be it New Mexico, Utah, or any other state. If it was me I would move to another state with much lower taxes. So a lot of the income the state would of counted on would essentially disapear.

I can keep this up and in the end it would be a lot more lengthly, so I'll wrap this up here. Our government is too large, and the complexity of the budget is one of our own making. We ask for everything from benefits to highways and farm subsidies. After the new deal during the great depression we became too reliant on the federal government and have not weaned ourselves off.

You want to keep what benefits you have? Well it's time to start paying the bill and not expect someone else to pay for it.

Actually, the OP did use logic. He presented a seemingly preposterous statement, then backed it up with a logical perspective to explain what he meant ("he's like an addict because...").
If you disagree, then explain why.

As for your conservative playbook quote, I'm not sure I follow you.
When do the conservatives say that?
If anything, they claim they already pay MORE than their fair share.
I think you may have misquoted yourself here.

Au contraire. Since I followed his advice to check my spark plugs and put air in my tires, I don't even go to the fillin' station anymore. I am positive that once that new air filter gets installed, my gas tank will in fact overflow as I drive down the highway.

If we could just get the rest of the country to follow this very important advice from the world's smartest president, I'm sure the price of gasoline would drop to just pennies a gallon.

I remember hearing "No more taxes on the middle-class". HAH - what a load of crap that was.
The "Rich" already pay the majority of taxes, use very little to none of the entitlement hand-outs (they pay for their own phones and food), but their taxes where raised at the beginning of the year with a promise that spending would be cut.
Less than 1% is offered to be cut from the budget. Continued and raised spending is now called "investing in infrastructure". And they want even more taxes again by saying "It's what the people voted for."

All I know is that if I went to the bank asking for a business loan or mortgage and turned over a budget and deficit like the guberment has, I would be tossed out of the bank on my ass without the loan.

Going to be a long, long four years of putting up with this azzhole. Idiots voted for their handouts. The rest of us have to deal with it, and pay for it.
