They already get enough. They can say what they want about small business too. The small business's that are struggling the most are the ones with no marketing and a cheap E-commerce website.

Whether they get enough or not is for them to decide. Shut up and pay your taxes.

Small businesses all cheat on their taxes anyway.

Brick and mortar stores have more overhead, period. Also you obviously have to be in a visible location, this means higher rent/taxes. E-stores can work out of anywhere with less inventory on hand.
I'll gladly buy online, it's 20+ miles to Wallyworld, Home Depot or any store that ever has what I need. Saves me time, gas/money.

This tax is inevitable, just don't think they are doing it for anything other than more money from you.

So the small business that also has a web site will need to figure the taxes for every state that has a sales tax. On the plus side, they create more jobs (they'll have to hire at least one new accountant); alternatively, they decide to eliminate their web presence - or close their doors.

The smart eCommerce site/cart vendors will do the leg work for them at an additional price.

Once they get all the zones and coding figured out, we (the customer) will get charged automatically based on local rates, and at the end of the year the small business will get a report with how much is owed each state. They won't have to do any work.

I'm not saying I'm for or against it, I just don't think it will be that difficult to initiate.

I don't mind sales tax so much, but these tobacco excise taxes and such...that's the real killer.

For cigar sales if all they do is collect sales tax I can't complain. Now if the 75% excise tax gets added on my cigar habit will take a hit.

I would rather not pay any though. They already get their fair share, and then some.

Well right now the brains in Washington want to base the tax via IP address location. More monitoring of what we are doing.

TOTAL BULL SH T

I live on the border with Georgia, not one of those stores I shop is required to collect tax for South Carolina and it's the same for Georgia customers shopping in South Carolina. Why should internet business be required to do this?

It shouldn't be legal for a legislature in one state to impose a law on business in another state.

IMO, the Parliament of whores, (Congress), is just laying the groundwork for a federal sales tax. [ram27bat]
