Pennsylvania: House Bill 1485 and Senate Bill 80 Must Be Defeated

Two legislators in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are building momentum for bills that would close exemptions for the enjoyment of cigars in the Keystone State. They need to be defeated, and your voice needs to be heard.

Pennsylvania Representative Mario Scavello, R-Monroe and State Senator Stewart Greenleaf, R-Montgomery, have introduced H.B. 1485 and S.B. 80, respectively, that would close all existing smoking exemptions in Pennsylvania including: cigar shops, casinos, private clubs, bars and restaurants that hold exemption permits, and they even go as far as closing the exemption for “tobacco events.” This is prohibition for the public enjoyment of cigars.

H.B. 1485 and S.B. 80 would also allow local governments in Pennsylvania to adopt more stringent smoking restrictions.

With this being Representative Scavello’s third attempt over the last six years, editorial pages across Pennsylvania are lining-up in support of the legislation, and he states this year, his legislation will get a committee hearing.

Sign this petition to the Pennsylvania legislature. Tell them the free-market is working just fine, to stop this assault on small business, and the simple ability to enjoy cigars.

ACTION ALERT

Contact your members of the Pennsylvania House and Senate. Tell them to VOTE NO on HB 1484 and SB 80. Protect Pennsylvania small business tobacconists. Say 'No' to statewide government intrusion, and Protect Your Ability to Enjoy Cigars!

TALKING POINTS

"We do not need to waste time on expanding the statewide smoking ban."

"This legislation would destroy small business: it has no exemption for cigar shops, bars, or lounges."

"Legislation like this is prohibition for the public enjoyment of cigars."
