I swear some people are just plain dumb. Just ran across a story of a guy trying to rob a store with a baseball bat, but not just any store. This genius out of all places decides to rob a gun store.

[frypan] [frypan] [frypan]

Don't know about you but I would of thought it would be common knoledge it would be safe to assume that most clerks if not all clerks at a gun store would carry a concealed gun. But I guess I was proven wrong.................

If anyones interested heres the full story

How dare those gun store clerks use their guns against a guy with a bat. Pure example of excessive force. In a fair and civilized world, those clerks would have had to put their guns away, and taken on the guy with their own bats.

If only that were true. Unfortunately, society is more keen on some english ****'s baby and fiddlefucking around on their cellphones than those trivial things like say, societal interaction, or the survival of the human race, or simply not walking out in front of a speeding bus?

Zombie apocalypse is 3/4 complete...just no one seems to be noticing. I'm as guilty as everyone else. We're dicking around on a cigar forum...meanwhile in the world, soldiers pick up blown apart corpses of eight year olds on a street in Aleppo. Hell, I don't even know if I could point out Syria on a map, and I like to think of myself as a cultured individual. Good ole' ammmmurica has the wool over our eyes good.

Back to the important stuff: Zimmerman - hero or murderer? Let's dedicate months of press time to it!

Coming soon to a city near you...and the rest of us as well. I think a lot of folks are noticing however. Have you tried to buy ammo lately? Primers? Powder? Freeze-dried food in #10 cans?

Somebody out there is noticing...

Do you think that someone is noticing, or do you think there is a television show that made it trendy to stockpile equipment that previously only had a market in survivalists and backpackers? There is basically only one company that makes the overwhelming majority of freeze-dried products, especially those available in bulk 10# cans. Most of the other players are re-labels from the same manufacturer.

I have no problem getting primers and powder. Brass, on the other hand, is going for $0.20/per for once fired 9mm casings. People are paying $0.50+ for 115gr Wolf 9mm...it's ridiculous, but it's just temporary. I am by no means an old timer, and I've watched this exact cycle play out multitudes of times in my short life. That being said, I do like having a few thousand rounds for every firearm I own.

There is always going to be someone with a bigger gun. I choose to focus on water...control the water, and you call the shots. Bailout bag currently has MiOX enough to purify water for 10 people to live on for 50 years, and that doesn't include any of my personal/backpacking filtration. That will be worth all the food or gold in the world when 80% of the globe is leaking to death with cholera and dysentery.

I've never watched the prepper television program...having some extra supplies on hand just seems like the common sense thing to do. Always has.

As far as the ammo and reloading supplies go, I think whatever shortages there are have been caused by panic buying. People who used to buy say, .22 ammo a couple of hundred rounds at a time are now buying 1000 round bricks, and several of those at a time. Current political climate? Everyday folks who believe that the SHTF is right around the corner? Hard to generalize. There must be something causing people to stand in line waiting for Walmart ammo shipments to arrive though. They can't all be motivated by one television show.

Kudos for being prepared. And you are absolutely correct about potable water. We can go quite awhile without food...potable water is something else entirely.

Keep your powder dry.

I guess I was way stocked up before the ammo rush, and I've only snagged onsie-twosies when I've been at a store that has them in stock and isn't friggin' gouging for them. Found an old timer in northern MN to sell me Federal 155gr 9mm for $9 a box a couple months ago, but it was a dude with a farm who just bought his ammo by the pallet and sold to whomever his buddies sent over. He also wasn't down with selling more than 500 of anything except 22lr, which I was happy for. I love plinking, plus my 22lr is the only gun my dog tolerates and ladyfriend enjoys shooting. I agree that it's never gotten this bad this rapidly across the board, but people love to panic, and every bit of additional discussion about it just makes people wonder if they are missing out by not freaking out and paying quadruple to have it NOW. I just don't see it failing to recover once factories adapt to this new demand and up production. That takes time, and I am sure the manufacturers are hesitant to commit those kinds of resources for what could just dry up next week.

I did stop at Bass Pro in Jackson recently and the firearms section was a damn wasteland...looked like the shelves of grocery store in a post apocalyptic film. Even the handgun selection was limited to one case of maybe 12. Craziness. The only time this rush really held me back turned out to be a good thing...I was hell bent on a subcompact .380 and was about to buy one, but god help you if you want .380 ammo, so I was holding off. Then I went out with a buddy who between the wifey and him, have like, seven subcompact .380s between them, and I just despised every single one after playing around and really handing them and rolling around on the ground with them stuffed in my belt and whatnot. Subcompact .40 single stack for me...now to find the right one. I wish there was a sweet subcompact XDM .40 single stack. It's just too wide as-is, but my XDM 9mm is my favorite pistol I have ever fired and a miniature version would be way appealing.
