Former US congressman Jesse Jackson Jr has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for misusing campaign funds.

Jackson, 48, pleaded guilty in February to fraud after he spent $750,000 (£483,000) on Rolex watches, fur coats, mounted elk heads and other items.

The Illinois Democrat's wife, Sandra Jackson, who pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns, was sentenced to one year in prison.

He goes first, then his wife goes. But his dad says he's sick with bipolar and it's not all his fault.

It's always an illness. Can't ppl just admit their mistakes for once. If they did i might actually agree with the light sentencing.

$300,000 a year tax free, then 2.5 years of free medical and housing. He'll probably be in "punk city" in a minimum security facility anyway.

How much you want to bet he's on the consultant/speaking circuit as soon as he's cleared to travel after release as well?

Prolly the same type person who would posts pictures of a tractor or a built in humidor or a listening room that they found on the Internet, but tried to pass them off as their own.

He did spend, what $15,000 on cigars?

Maybe he was the person who ran up the prices on all the auctions about the time Tac got banned last year.

Must be why it makes no sense to me

Jesse Jackson Jr. - the rotten fruit from a rotten tree, planted in poisoned ground.

Now if they could only nail his father, there would be some justice in the world...
