After dealing with some minor home well issues ( or so I thought ) had lost water altogether and to cut out all the boring detail from Tues. thru today ended up replacing everything from pressure switch to pressure tank then hand pulled 63' of cast iron pipe and pump ( with the help of one other 🌫 ) and then reset using new plastic pipe and 1/2 hp. Pump.....after working out some initial bugs ( aligning cut in and tank pressure ) We finally seem to be back in business. What a great friend I have in my buddy Andy who drove up 1 1/2 hrs and didn't leave until 10 PM.

It sure makes one pause and take stock how much we take running water for granted in our lives 🤔

Oh... Did I say My Azz is dragging????

That sounds like nothing but work but if you have help it goes so much better. You owe your buddy a big one.

Agreed, and although he wanted nothing.....he was not allowed to leave without compensation!! Did I mention he called me a couple weeks back and asked if I'd help him replace our other buddies well pump as the poor bastid bought his first home and his water went out....

Yikes!

You don't miss your water till the well runs dry, or pump breaks down.

Too bad I wasn't nearby, I could have....who am I kidding, I would have gotten out of my car, looked at the dirt and mud and left with little more than a wave!

Lol, lots of work for young'ens even more for us 🌫

Sad isn't it. I'm sure that's why your friend helped you so much with your project, because he appreciated your help on the other one.

You're a good man, Charlie Brown...

What Mrs. Tank said. That's what it's all about, my friend. Glad it worked out.

You should talk to Rambo about wells. He was digging wells at an early age. Talk about tough.

He did help me a bit inside but by the time my bud made it up with pump the boy had to head into work. He's not bad about helping out all in all. But yeah, thing is they only get away with what we allow. Any blame in that regard falls to parents and our lax expectations as a society in general. JMHO

Yes indeed, such fond memories. 😮

63' shallow well , drilled many from the average well of 100'-150' & above average in the Milford, PA area, well over 500'. 🤔

Cast iron( galvanized pipe) has to be an old well, I assume tri pod and chain hoist were in use? Been their & done this many times in the 60's. Should be good for many years to come. 🇨🇮

You R correct on assuming it's an old well, but we did not have access to a tripod and hoist. We fashioned some blocks that we pressure clamped around the shaft and " hand pulled " it up 4-5' at a time.....seem to still be having some minor issues. I think I might have gotten a B A D pressure switch as it's "kick in" is happening @30 lbs but "kick out" is happening @ 60 lbs like it should. Also, replaced 1/3 hp pump with 1/2 (1/3 was not to be found) so I'm wondering if the 1/2 hp pump is evacuating the water at a quicker rate than the aquifer can replenish it? I dunno

1/2hp pump is going to draw water into the tank at a much faster rate. Check with supplier where you purchased pump, they should be able to help you with any adjustments. 🤔
