Looking at possibly getting a tablet, mainly for email, web browsing, youtube, free online tv, possibly some excel, a bit of writing, etc.

I have no interface preferences, as I don't even have a smart phone (old flip phone for me.)

Played a little with an iPad today - pretty cool, pretty pricey............. I am a Mac user.

Even so, iOS is pretty much a different animal than OS X.

I'm somewhat visually challenged, so it has to be a larger device.

Any suggestions, experiences appreciated.

Thx

(if I had the dough, I'd just get an 11 inch MacBook Air)

Id get an ipad. You can always get an older version and pay less if your not concerned with having the most up to date tech

I just went through all of this crap too. I'm going with a small lap top PC, it does everything a tab will and it's about the same price. Plus, I really like a keyboard.

FGM thinks an iPad is a type of adult diaper to help prevent leaks when it matters most🌫

An iPad, because they work very well with OSX, even the interface differs.

Bad time to buy an ipad. It's the end of the cycle. In a month or so the new ones will be out and the one you buy now will be cheaper. If buying an ipad wait a few weeks. Apple buying 101, follow the cycle.

The ipad is a do not buy right now.

Good point, the expected iPad event is the 22nd, and apple likes to release around 10 days later. I would expect a thinner bezel on the regular iPad to match the style of the mini (finally!)

And if you don't want the new one the one you would buy today will either be cheaper or the newer generation.

I make take the plunge in a few weeks myself.

If i wanted to use EXCEL i would go with a Windows tablet. I love the Surface Pro it truly blows anything else away but it's expensive but there are many for half the price ..or an Ultra light tablet is a good idea..

MS is releasing office for iPad soon, though Pages/Numbers/Keynote are now free with new iOS device purchases and work great.

Edit: i do like surface though. Not enough to give up my iPads, but they are good tablets if you want to stay in the windows environment.
