Jon. When are the criollo's supposed to hit stores in SoCal? I keep checking, and checking, and checking (beginning to feel the Everready bunny)without any success.

I think I figured it out but CA lists it as a torpedo not a figurado that threw me off track for a little while.

Do I have the right one slim??

Technically ... a Torpedo is 'pointed' at both ends, so you are right in saying it is a little misleading.

Figurado and Belicoso usually mean that the foot is cut, with only one pointed end ...

... it's the only one listed for May/June 2000, so I would venture to say that you are correct!

Figurado
A Spanish term that refers to cigars with shapes sizes, such as Belicosos, Torpedos, Pyramids, Perfectos and Culebras.

Torpedo
A cigar shape that features a closed foot, a pointed head and a bulge in the middle

Pyramid (or Pyramide)
A sharply tapered cigar with a wide, open foot and a closed head.

Perfecto
A distinctive cigar shape that is closed at both ends, with a rounded head; usually with a bulge in the middle.

Cigar companies just call them what the want anyway...one companys 'beli is anothers torp, and is yet anothers pyramid.

digdug77 --- you answered your own question.

A Figurado usually refers to all sizes of that shape, but a Torpedo is pointed at both ends, and a Belicoso has a cut foot.

The perfecto is exactly what you said ... and the cap is usually 'rounded' (with the exception of the La Habana perfecto and I'm sure a few more). A very good example of a traditional perfecto shape would be the Hemingway Short Story, Best Seller and the Work of Art ... with the fattest part being near the foot with a 'nipple' on the end you light.
