Burner - my big girl was 14 1/2. They're part of your life for such a long time, it never occurs to you that they won't *always* be there, and then...they're not. And it sucks. And you OWE it to them to be with them and hold them at the end, which is just the most heart-ripping thing I've ever had to do. Sorry for your lose and I agree with everything you said. We lost our first husky, Cody, in 09. He was nine years old when we had to put him down due to cancer. Wife and I think of him often. Guessing it will be as bad or worse when our old gal, Anna, goes.
