It wasn't an illegal housebreaker but hey, an 11-year-old girl shot and killed a cougar

An 11-year-old girl shot a cougar that was following her 14-year-old brother to their home at Twisp, in north central Washington.

State Fish and Wildlife Officer Cal Treser says the female cougar killed last week was about 4 years old and very skinny at about 50 pounds -- half of what it should weigh.

Treser says the teens' father, Tom White, had chased the cougar away from their calves twice on Feb. 19. The next day his son went out to feed the dogs and was returning to a basement door when he spotted the cougar following him.

His daughter had a tag to hunt cougars and shot the animal.

I did. It says that they first tried to chase the cougar away. Big cats can F-U up if given the chance. Particularly one that is half starved as it appears this one was. I agree that they shouldn't be hunted for sport. I think that is just sick. 🌫

I didn’t know that 40-something hotties are on the endangered species list. Also, where are these cougar sanctuaries and how do I get a weekend pass to stay there. I wouldn’t mind “rehabbing” some in my spare time.

They have agencies devoted to rescue of these animals and there are wildlife sanctuaries that they can be rehabbed and put back into the wild or reside.

Just sayin'...here we have an endangered species and we're going to justify killing them into extinction when there is a right way to deal with it.

And to be honest, depending on the state regulations, they could have killed the animal out of fear for their safety and not needed to tag it with a valid license, as a nuisance animal.

To me this seems to be an opportunity that a family took to fill a tag for their daughter, without having to follow the game in their natural environment, but rather took advantage of a vulnerable animal.
