Former Auburn star Bo Jackson says he couldn't be a two-sport athlete these days.

He also said Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson shouldn't try it either.

Jackson, who played for the Oakland Raiders of the NFL and Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and California Angels of Major League Baseball, was in Chicago on Tuesday.

Jackson had some advice for Wilson, who has spent time in camp with the Texas Rangers this month.

"Stick to what got (Wilson) in the headlines, not baseball," Jackson told CSN Chicago. "Twenty-five or 30 years ago when I did it, I'm not trying to say anything negative about other athletes, but the talent pool wasn't that deep. In this day in age, with all the high-tech training, computer-engineered workouts and the proper food and diet, if you try to concentrate on two sports, I guarantee you're going to ride the bench in both because the talent is that deep. Stick to whatever sport you're comfortable with and let everything else go."

Jackson, 51, said he wouldn't be able to excel in two sports today like he did years ago.

"I probably couldn't, no," Jackson said. "Just because the talent pool is that deep now. If my kids want to do both sports - 'No. No. No.' ... If you try to do both you're going to be riding the bench in both. You'll never get to that level that you want to get to if you split your time between multiple sports."

Yeah he never made an Allstar game or Probowl.

He had a cannon arm, and hit the ball a mile

Also often started OVER Marcus Allen.

What do you know Jack, if he played at Penn state maybe you'd feel different.

Two words.

Deon Sanders

Deon was a better football player than Bo

Not as good at baseball.

Only because Bo injured his hip. Prior to the injury, I believe he averaged 5.4 yards a carry.

He wasn't arguably the best ever at his position. That argument could be made for Deon, plus he returned kicks well also. Bo was to me the best athlete (all around) in my generation. I'd say ever but Red Grange probably gets that nod.

He should have followed his own advice. Also if he played today there would be little incentive to play football with the coin he could have made in bball

Guess we will never know for sure. Would like to have seen what Bo would have accomplished if it had not been for the hip injury.

Deion Sanders was/is a great mouth piece. Much better talker than athlete. That's not to say he wasn't a very good player. He was. It's just a testament to his tireless self promotion.

Back when he was playing for Atlanta, I still had access to a pair of 50 yard line SAINTS season tickets. I used to love watching the SAINTS burn him for touch downs and long yardage when he misread the plays.

Don't know that he would have played pro baseball if it had not been for Hugh Culverhouse, owner of the Tampa Bay Bucs screwing him over and getting him declared ineligible for his senior season of baseball. After that occurred, he decided that he would not play for Culverhouse under any circumstances and that is why he turned to baseball.

Abrignac when he was with Dallas he was the best shut down corner I've ever seen. He gave up some plays but that was usually due to taking chances on calculated risks. Mouth piece? No doubt. Self promoter? Hell yes.
