Caught this monstrosity on the bottom, with a night crawler, on 10 lb line. He weighed over 12 lbs, and it took me 10-15 minutes to haul him in. He just kept running and taking line and I kept reeling him. Finally he got tired, but even after our photo shoot he swam away with little prompting.

Jury is still out on that.

WI in August... If you haven't been there yet, have Russ take you about 30 min south on Hwy 41 for a nice visit to Kaukauna. The hot and humid August air should be just right for an olfactory overload.

Guess you're right- depends on where they live. Always thought of them as mostly scavengers and algae eaters though.

Catfish is real good eating, but it's a catch and release lake.

Fine with me, I just like catching them. If I want fish to eat I'll head to the ocean. Better tasting, bigger fish.

Nice fish. But, why were you tight lining with 10# line? I have 25# on all my catfish r&r's. But, since you were fishing in a c&r lake I guess I understand the desire to use light tackle.

Sounds like you're criticizing the size of MACS' tackle.
