I met Al about 10 years ago.. We rented a guest house on a fly fishing trip to Montana, and it turned out to be on his ranch. We went back for 6 years and had some good times with him and his wife Michelle. The ranch is a rescue place called Deer Haven. His politics would make Rickamaven happy. We had many spirited discussions while sitting on his patio overlooking the Yellowstone.. Our living room has one of his original paintings on the wall. My studio has several signed prints and a signed MAD cover.
We came from VERY different backgrounds, but I really treasured the time I spent with him.. 🍺
RIP
