I got a brother who has been addicted to heroin his entire adult life. Spent many of his adult years locked up because of it. I haven't really had much contact with him since I was a kid, but I remember him being my hero. He's 12 years older than me. Named my son after him.

Got a friend I consider a brother who is an alcoholic and drinking himself to death. Has liver disease now and he's only a few months older than me. I imagine I'll be walking his daughter (my god-daughter) down the aisle in his place.

It's difficult to watch, but nobody can do a thing to change them until they are ready to change themselves.

Well I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison.

Whiskey river take my mind.

I think I'll just stay here and drink.

Hank, why do you drink?

I like beer. It makes me a jolly good fellow.

A hundred bottles of beer on the wall. A hundred bottles of beer.

One bourbon, one scotch, and one beer.

'Cause I've got friends in low places where the whiskey drowns

And the beer chases my blues away and I'll be okay

heroin sucks... I'm really sorry to hear that macs... I hope if he ever decides to change you can be there for him... I don't know if my little brother ever looked up to me, but if he did my addictions taught him not to anymore...

you're absolutely right, you can't change people or even help them until they want it, and some people just can't see the value of life apart from the drug... I hope that won't always be the case for your bro...

My apologies for not understanding this was a serious thread. Was only joking around. Lost my brother a few years ago to alcoholism. An aunt, and my grandfather many, many years ago.

Addiction sucks.
