You're right. The problem goes beyond age. A round trip to Mars would take months, the better part of a year. Presently, such a prolonged trip without gravity would have serious health effects upon a crew or any passengers. In addition, there would be the problem of the "Solar Wind," which is caused by Solar Prominences, which are unpredictable. The crew would be subject to intense (and fatal) radiation to and back. Then there is the problem of Cosmic Radiation which is also unpredictable and (sometimes) even more intense than Solar Radiation. Right now, the technology which would support a trip to Mars by humans is simply not there. This may change however, the point of making a manned trip to Mars is to get them there and back; alive!! 👎
