LOL, guilty your honor.

Never by less than VSOP IMHO. Remy Martin VSOP is easy to find, good, and about $40. It is aged 4 years. If you can find it Hine rare VSOP is better, also aged 4 years and $40. Hine rare and delicate is the same bottle. My suggestion is to search out Pierre Ferrand Amber or Reserve, these are a large set up in quality. Ambre is aged 10 years, again around $40, quite complex. Reserve is aged 20 years though not listed as such. Expect to pay between $40 and $70. Very complex with a depth the Amber does not quite have.

It is not as integrated, it is harsher in that it has an alcoholic burn to it, personally not my style.

May be anathema to aficionados but i really enjoy both cognac and calvsdos with coffee and a cigar. Breakfast of champions.

sorry, you eliminated yourself for using the word "anathema". It's a discount cigar forum, we have standards, y'know?

Remy VSOP is a smoother, more ethereal cognac. Courvoisier is the choice of "The Ladies Man".

Just to bring the property values in the neighborhood down...Here's a suggestion. Buy a bottle of Remy Martin VSOP for $40+ and a bottle of Raynal VSOP Brandy for $14. Do the Pepsi challenge. Remy is better...but not 3X better. Raynal is a decent every day Brandy. French, just not from the Cognac region. Flame away diletantes and cognac cognoscenti.

My brother used to drink Raynal brandy. I thought it tasted like a 3rd rate French brandy. When he visted me he sure drank up my Martell VSOP.

I would rather pay for something I like than 3 bottles of something I'd have to gag down. X
