He wasn't the conductor, he was just someone from the audience who walked up on stage and picked up the mic - some of the musicians left the stage, some didn't. I would presume because they probably were concerned, note how he kept repeating "There is no bomb".

Also, this happened 4 years ago.

normally I would have done a check on something like this, but it came to me from a normally unimpeachable source...my mother. Course, she's 95 and got it from a 90 year old friend...
