ISOM or Dominican?

What is ISOM? I figure it has to be the Cuban #2 and not the Dominican (CA only rated the latter at 86)#2. I just bought some of the latter at 7.09 a stick. I'll let you know my thoughts once I get to them.

I would have to check. I assume Dominican because some of these famous people were politicians. Im thinking they would be smoking legal montes. Maybe Im naieve. Mag

They're talking about the cuban version, the dominican doesn't compare!

Gotta be the cuban and it is up there with the davidoff special T I smoked as my favs with the PAM up there as well

Ive seen websites that sell the cuban montes but I always chicken out at the last second before I click the last button to order for fear of getting busted. Are the sites safe? Mag

Montecristo #2 is the very, very best of ISOM's (my opinion) and they are the standard to judge other ISOM's by!

From my experiences with Montecristo:

Dominican: mild, 1 dimensional, boring
ISOM: harsh, unbalanced, disappointing

You can smoke a real cigar for half the price!

... that is, unless you have tried a Saint Luis Rey 'A', a Trinidad Fundadores, a Ramone Allones Gigantes, a Diplomaticos No. 4 or 5, just to mention a few that have consistantly received higher ratings in taste tests ... 😉

I got busted,and a nasty letter from Customs along with a chance to get my cigars if I submit a form with $200 and "just cause" to why I should received these potentially illegal items. I made a sale to this site (Madrid Spain) several times before 9/11 with no problems. I believe they are checking most overseas shipments now. This site sends the cigars without labels and no identifying origin markings.
Anybody had recent dealings with importing Cubans???

Milder than expected,very complex though, and quite a good experience was my first #2. I have a fake sitting the humi now that I imagine will compare with I.am.steve's experience.

The ISOM #2 is a GREAT cigar if it is given to you, and a good cigar if you must pay for it. I like the ISOM R&J churchill the best of all cuban cigars that I have smoked.

I've got to agree with Charlie, although I smoked a RyJ CDL #1 last night and WOW! The first time that I've ever tasted the hint of citrus and then a lil floral but further down lots of spice and cedar. I'm prowling the net as I write...

I too got 'intercepted', but there was no harsh letter. Written on the package, where the contents section said 'pencils' (ha ha ha!), was 'liar liar liar.' The **** took my cigars! Five Cohiba Siglo IV included. My source just resent them and everything was fine. Don't buy from a source that won't resend. I am happy to share a couple of reliable sources, if you want to email me: [email protected] (I get so much spam, I don't care if they read the @ sign. I've given up).

RE: Montecristo #2, I made the mistake of starting smoking cigars with this cigar. Makes it difficult to go on without being a millionaire. Now, the Padron 1926 Series matches up very nicely...bought two last week. Get them if you can.
