The quick story behind the design of the patch. When we first got here and started flying missions, we kept getting our missions extended by 2 to 4 hours. It happened so many times in a row that we started getting called The Extendables ( a play on The Expendables movies). It quickly became our nickname. So, we took the patch from the Expendables and modified it for our crew. Bombs around the outside of the skull instead of guns and knives. On the forehead of the skull is the black circle with the white stripe down the middle. If any of you have seen the plane that I fly on, you will recognize that as the rotodome (the flying saucer on the top of our aircraft). And finally, it was made perfectly clear that there would be some type of reference to cigars....nothing like a skull smoking a cigar. That my friends is the story of the patch. Oh, and the saying is just a play on sexual innuendo.
