If we have another government shutdown I plan on voting against anyone presently in office when they are up for reelection. What say you?

I don't need another shutdown for that. They haven't managed to keep things running as it is. But...... money and incumbency will insulate then from insignificant voters like you and I.

The spineless squishes (Boehner, McConnel) will not shut down anything as they have no backbone. Furthermore, they cannot even explain that Congress doesn't shut down the government, the President shuts it down. It has been done 18 times since 76 and every time it has been "the President shuts down the government"... all of a sudden, McConnel for brains and cry baby Boehner keep saying , "We will not shut down the government." So Obama plays them like a cat plays with a ball. The establishment repubs will go hard, with teeth bared at a conservative republican, but will roll over for the Democrats.
Essential fed government does not shut down and in fact, only 17% of the Fed is deemed ''unessential,'' so 83% of the damned big bloated government stays open and in business during a "shutdown."
But the idiot sticks cannot explain this as they are pansies...Instead they will attack Ted Cruz for throwing incendiary bombs. They should let Obama shut it down, then explain that HE had a bill on his desk and CHOSE to shut it down.. explain it, rationally- but they will not as they love the crony capitalism and the money that comes from the chamber of commerce and the businesses that suck off the teat of the Fed Government.
Is it any wonder why republicans are up in arms and why Trumps numbers are so high?
We HATE the big government rePUBElicans who lie to get reelected and then just "play ball" and complain that we don't have the Senate..then when we get the Senate, we don' t have 60 votes, or if we send it to the President, he is just going to Veto it, or we need the presidency, THEN we will do something.
Give up the fight before the fight.

Conservatives of Ted's era would cross the isle. But then the Democrat party has moved so far left since JFK that it boggles the mind.
So to answer your question. I would NOT cross the isle as the Dems in D.C. are big government statists. Why would I compromise the limits that the Constitution puts on the fed government with a party that HATES those limits and a president from that party who circumvents the Constitution and plays "catch me if you can.?"

Ted's mom would work very long hours with the Salvation Army and left Ted and his brother alone for hours on end, when they were young kids- Ted was embarrassed by it. He took up playing baseball and hitting to pass the time, his brother got into trouble.

Ted Campaigned for Bush I, all across New England. I don't know for sure, but he probably loved Reagan.

And I am from San Diego. It is too bad that Ted's legacy has turned into a joke..what a mess.

Yeah, you're right, one of the two parties changed, and yours owns morality and respects the integrity of the Constitution...HA!

Ever hear of the Jimmy Fund? Teddy was a tireless leader and fund raiser of this child cancer champion from the beginning. Learned that somewhere, no?

Reagan, who started as a Kennedy Democrat, would be a moderate at best today and crossed the aisle a number of times (Tip O'Neil eg), and Bush was despised by his own...so I guess my point was correct, Teddy's conservatism matches that from decades ago, not today's fragmented lunacy of litmus tests.

Like all of us, they lived in their times and it is difficult to suppose values of a character from decades ago.

Your Reagan comment is off base.
Reagan started off as a FDR democrat, then was head of SAG and learned all about communism filtering into the Hollywood scene- and a very well read man on the enlightenment period of philosophy.
He also stated that the Democrat Party left him, he did not leave the party. JFK is the last democrat in Washington to understand how the economy works, especially in regards to taxing the populous.
Reagan was a staunch conservative and would be railed against today by the media and the self serving establishment rhinos, just as he was when he ran.
The establishment HATED Reagan. Elder Bush attacked him and his policies as foolish. Karl Rove was right in there as a Bush advisor, attacking Reagan.
George Will said Reagan was a fool and would ruin the Republican Party. He penned many articles against Reagan and many were vicious attacks.
Krauthammer (sp?) worked for Jimmy Carter and then Walter Mondale!
They completely missed the Reagan Revolution and we are supposed to uphold what they say?

They both still attack conservatives, religiously by the way.

Reagan had to work with a completely dominated democrat house and senate until it flipped and many rhinos rode his coat tails to office.
Tip O'Neil and dems would lie about agreements. He raised taxes because for every dollar he raised in taxes, there were supposed to be 3 dollars in spending cuts. Big shocker.. the Dems did not hold up their end of the deal. The tax cut bill went through, but no spending cuts.
Amnesty was supposed to be a one time thing. Then there was supposed to be a wall built along the border and the hammer brought down on businesses hiring illegals.
The dems lied on that as well and later he would say that one of his biggest regrets was the Amnesty bill.
He wanted to get rid of the Education Department and the establishment republicans in his own party derailed that.

Just like Ted Cruz, or Ben Carson, or yes even Trump, the establishment Rhinos and the media will try and take them down.

I know all about the Jimmy fund and how Williams never played it up- just did his thing with it and gave generously, while being painted the **** by the press and all the while Joe Dimaggio getting a free ride by the NY press and he was actually the brooding jackass of a man..even his brother Dom said so.
What, you can't be giving if you are a conservative? I didn't say he hated his mom, just hated the fact that she left them alone, often locked out of their house for hours on end while she did the Salvation Army stuff.
Conservative Christians are the most charitable people on the planet.
I also know that conservatives.. and Republicans for that matter, give more generously to charities that do Democrats. It has been documented.. don't believe me? Look it up . there was also a book written on it, called "Who Really Cares" with documentation in footnotes.
Romney - not even a big conservative, gave 20% to charity.
Obama, about 2%
and Biden.. .03%. THAT is NOT a typo.

The conservatives in the party are more moral and I won't shy away from that. What happened to the Pelosi dictate that the Dem party would be the most transparent and moral party? How did that work out?
Behnghazi
IRS Scandal
Hillary's emails
passing Obamacare at midnight through budgetary tricks.
Usurping the Constitution with presidential fiats.

The difference I find in many dems, is that they will defend their D.C. party members and hardly say a bad word about them, voting for them like drones. Where as conservative republicans that revere the Constitution will back our strong conservatives, but point out wrongdoings and attack establishment repubs that are acting like Democrat lite... We even work to primary them out of office - but Dems can kill a person (see Ted Kennedy and Chapaquitick) or turn against our troops (See John Kerry)and they rise in the ranks of the party... so yes, the Democratic party in Washington is morally bankrupt- so are the establishment republicans who allow Obama to get away with executive orders and runaway spending and do NOTHING to curb it.

and by the way, Thanks for having me
