The Mississippi state flag will not fly at the Democratic National Convention.

It was removed from its posts inside and outside the arena, as the Mississippi Democratic delegation and protesters agreed that it was offensive. The flag features the stars and bars symbol of the Confederacy in the upper left corner of the rectangular flag that also has three stripes — one red, one white and one blue.

Vallena Greer, a Democratic delegate from Mississippi, told the Washington Examiner she saw the flag on the Mississippi delegation's post inside the convention hall and immediately took it down.

"I just lost it. I snatched it, I threw it under the seat," Greer said. "I didn't want to see it, nobody else from Mississippi wanted to see that."

The Sip voted about the flag a few years ago. 2/3 were in favor of keeping it.

The majority has spoken.

You lost.....quit crying!

Ummm.... Mattie... Just because they voted to keep it doesn't mean everyone else has to allow it.

So by that logic.

If Trump is elected with 2/3 vote, do 1/3 not have to allow him to be president??????

Oh and "they" didn't vote to keep it.

"WE" voted to keep it!!!

No. But if America votes trump president, that doesn't mean other countries have to let him visit.

Mississippi can vote to make their flag an HD image of gaping an@l sex with the money shot, that doesn't require that conferences outside of Mississippi have to allow them to fly their flag...

"allow it"?

If the DNC is flying the flags of the 50 UNITED States, then it's not a matter of choosing which ones you like or don't find offensive.

In this instance, the flag was removed by a delegate from da 'Sip. But what if it was some self-righteous yankee from a northern state?

I am ashamed of my America. When did we all get so butt hurt and easily offended? A flag? Really?
Shame on that delegate. And shame on anyone who thinks removing it was the right thing to do. You can be against the symbol while still honoring the good people of the state.

Ummm. Mattie... The DNC is a convention for a political party.. I'm pretty sure they're not a government organization.

Yes tail "allow it".. The DNC, just like the RNC is an organization which can run its convention how it sees fit. You know... Because this is America.

I see this as a freedom of speach issue. Missisipi has the right to fly their flag. My preference is that they remove the battle flag. Until they do I will never go to Mississippi or buy products from there. I think the DNC was perfectly reasonable removing the flag. If the DNC had themselves raised 49 other flags then they should have raised the 50th, but that is not the case. Mattie sees the flag as part of his history and heritage, I respect that. Many people at the convention see the flag as a symbol of slavery and hate. They should not be subjected to that.

Mattie, I do have a question for you. Would you be OK with someone burning your flag. Flag burning is also a protected right.
