I have family outside of Minneapolis. Very nice part of the country. Every year, my cousin and her husband make a luge run in their backyard. This past year, they put LED lights inside for night runs.

Don't freak out about the cold. You can and will get used to it. A long cold spell is still much better than the freeze/thaw/ice deal you typically find in the mid-Atlantic states. Dry cold is good
