Found this baby snapper ambling through the grass today. Bothered him for a minute, sent him on his way.

Would've made an interesting pet. Image him full grown, sitting on the porch with me while I smoke a cigar. Games of fetch would last weeks. I'd never get my newspaper on time. Still, that'd be neat!

I remember a very, very large snapping turtle that lived under the dock at Silver Spring Lake in RI.

Hooked it once when I was catching sun fish. He came out from under his rock and snatched a sun fish I had hooked. I quickly cut the line... that thing was over 150 lbs. Yuge.

Once I was swimming cross Turtle creek
many snappers all around my feet
Shure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holdin' my ding a ling
