Wheel's funeral was one year ago today. I miss him. All the sniping and arguments we had publicly on here were total bullshit. Privately he was the best friend I never met I ever had. I regret the hell out of not meeting him in person. He was a good man with a beautiful family.

Jade...know EXACTLY what you meant. Only difference is that I did meet him. When we used to do fun stuff like ROAK there was a variation called The Spot. I made him the Spot. Bunch of great cigars...bottle of booze, Mardi Gras beads, a custom pirate looking letter...burned at the edges with a lot of ye and ol in it all packaged in a humidor. He used to come down to Florida to visit family.

We would talk at least once a month. I valued our long distance friendship. When I saw Michael's post that he had passed I thought this was one of his gags. When I signed his guest page at the funeral home I knew this wasn't a joke. It felt like someone kicked me in the stomach.

I miss him and his humor. Being in on the joke from afar and watching people take the bait and laughing either over the phone or through pm here.

RIP....Cowboys still suck.

I did not know wheel died ( I have been away for a while). While not as close, wheel was fun to interact with on this forum.

I didn't realize it's been a year already. I suck at that stuff.

He did come up in thoughts & conversation yesterday. We went for beers right by his favorite hangout, where we had the wake.

When he got hurt, I asked if he needed help with his business or anything. I get a lot of vacation at my work and was ready to go but being a dip$hit....er....uh....proud Texan, he would have none of it. I coulda helped Pedro and didn't even need a new hose to drink from! Damn, a year already?!?! I didn't have nearly the relationship some of you had with him but about a year before he passed, we had e-mailed each other about some Rolling Stones recordings that I was going to burn for him. Never got around to it and really sad that I never got off my azz to do it. I know he would have enjoyed them.

So glad I got a chance to meet him. Invited me to sit down next to him and gave me an ISOM right off the bat! Told him how he nailed me on my very first post (of course he called me queer - his way of saying "welcome") and I died laughing and got him right back!

Wheel was not the smart-ass he portrayed here on the boards. I've met a few people in my life that would make you feel that you were his long lost friend like Bill did. He was a genuine person and it reflected in his family. Bills daughter is more like him than his son, the Chief, but he couldn't have prouder of both.

Mikey is right.. the second time I met Bill was down in Durant to play golf and hang at the casino... met him at the golf course and he treated me like a long lost brother... RIP Bill. .. 😞
