Republican males from the Northeast are among the best tippers, beating out southern Democrats, according to a new survey released Monday.๐Ÿบ

Creditcards.com conducted the survey through Princeton Survey Research Associates International and found that Republican males โ€” particularly in the Northeast โ€” tipped a median of 20% when dining at a restaurant, whereas women and Democrats from the South were among the worst tippers, giving 16% and 15%, respectively.

โ€œWhen it comes to generous tipping, Republicans definitely beat Democrats. Fifty-nine percent of Republicans say their typical restaurant tip exceeds 15%, while just 46% of Democrats say the same. Democrats are also more likely than their GOP counterparts to say that they never tip hotel housekeepers, hair stylists/barbers and coffee shop baristas,โ€ Matt Schulz, senior industry analyst at Creditcards.com, tells FOX Business.

I bet Hank is a Democrat. He just expects everyone to pitch in and help him then gives nothing in return.

I disagree, sometimes the service is so bad that you have to leave a resounding message.

That's some libtard talk right there...

No Vic, libtard talk is "we're not gonna question why this guy's tips are low, we're just gonna redistribute funds to him anyway from people who get better tips."

at any rate, I'm more aligned with you than with Live. HOWEVER, I would never stiff the wait staff without discussing with them and with management. I try to engage with the manager on most restaurant visits. But I will always talk with mgr if I consider service to have been sub-standard (or anything else about the meal/experience.)

Meh... I just give them 20-25% and leave. It's 20-40$... what am I going to do save myself a could bucks by trying to scale it based on their performance?

My tipping % has more to do with what a near round number is than their performance.

yep, usually shoot for 20%... easy to calculate... round up to nearest buck...

Question: do you subtract the tax from the total and tip based on that amount, or do you tip off the bottomline total, including taxes?

Generally, I add 20% of pretax subtotal. But, I will, sometimes, go to all that onerous effort of 'scaling' the amount based on service.

I tip according to how good the service is.

If the watron has a nice big racque and she presses it into my shoulder as she leans across the table to place my son's milk on the table and does all of this without pissing my wife off..........

well, let's just say, she deserves an excellent tip.
