kinda suspicious activity happening around a totally innocent President...Dowd seems to bailing before the crap hits the fan...he still wants a rep and to work after this ends...

Or, maybe Trump is innocent of whatever criminal activity you think he's done....and as someone guilty of nothing more than being a buffoon, he's frustrated that this is dragging on....and wants some changes in his legal team.

I think he's a ham-fisted clown who plays fast and loose with the truth; someone used to getting his way and being petulant and punitive when he doesn't....but I don't think he's criminal. And I suspect that his treatment of the investigation and his defense team are borne of frustration and sense of unfair treatment; not trying to deceive, kill and bury the investigative dogs, as many seem to argue.

strong case can be made for obstruction of justice, which is the legal term for his being petulant and punitive when he doesn't get his way.

possibly, though I haven't heard it made yet....

that's always a great charge, however, because legal definition is vague and allows prosecutors a ton of leeway to interpret in favor of the state

When you have a legal mind like Alan Derschowitz telling the Dems to walk it back...then you really should listen!

He's just trying to be consistent with his criticism of the Ken Starr special prosecution of Clinton. He's been opposed to the concept of a special counsel as an institution for years.

He has said that Trump's firing of Comey, or anyone else he has the authority to fire, is not a crime of obstruction of justice. The President has the power to decide to fire anyone in his chain of command, and it can't be a crime if he does...but he did say it could be an impeachable offense.

Trump has done some other stuff, besides firing people, that could be interpreted as evidence of obstruction of justice. His involvement in drafting Jared's initial response, a false claim about adoption of Russian babies, about the meeting with Russians in Trump Tower is potentially obstruction.

It doesn't look good so far, with some of the Trump campaign people pleading guilty to serious crimes and/or agreeing to cooperate... with the indictments of identified Russians, some of whom had known connections to Manafort in the past...

But you're right, I'm no legal expert, Dershowitz clearly is......................so I'll wait to see what the Special Counsel's investigation determines...
