It's really a waste now to buy a desktop humidor with the Boveda and Heartfelt humidification available. The cheap ones aint much vetter than leaving cigars on the counter, the high end ones are $$$$ and still benefit greatly from 2 way humidification.

Sealed environment is the way to go. Any desktop will leak. I have a high end unit, it still needs attention st least monthly. The cheap Chinese ones you be better off with Ziploc bag My most stable humidor is a large Pelican case. I hadn't opened it since August. Blind review thing came up so I had to dig around. Hydrometer reading 65% 54F.

Strongly recommend against buying a desktop for utility purposes. If just for show and constant stock rotation, fine. But they're not going to protect your cigars without constant attention.

^2 exactly

I'd bet that if he sold off his murse collection, nail salon membership and ball gag, he might be able to get a decent used wineador off Craigslist.

Yes, the ball gag. TW said something about a ro-boost secondary market on USED ball gags. Who knew?

True..........but I do have a large Watts desktop, and the seal is dang near perfect.
Yes they're spendy........and haven't been made for many years........but it's as good as any cooler.
I havn't had to do anything for years.
My Ashton desktop is decent, needs. Bovedas recharged occasionally.
The combo of beads and Bovedas is the way to go for me.
But then I'm also fortunate that the temps and rh in my house are always cigar friendly, so I'm sure that helps.

Just laugh at your buddy. He can always keep the tupperware in a drawer.
