North Korea agreed to halt ALL nuclear testing and close down a nuclear facility.
They will no longer test mid range nor intercontinental ballistic rockets.
Furthermore, North and South Korea are going to meet for discussions at the demilitarized zone between their nations.
Sounds like FoxNews is at it again, eh?

I'm glad Obama won that Nobel Peace prize for, er, uh, ???

I heard Kerry was next in line for one.

I'm not good at looking up old posts, but I know I have posted a few times that N.Korea was doing and saying Trump level lunatic claims NOT because they really were a legitimate threat, but because they need so much. So now I'll expand on my theory as it seems to be coming to fruition.

The Little Fat Rocket Boy is universally painted as crazier than The Donald by most Western outlets, and 98.2% of Americans willingly accept this as fact. his photos support the image. We HOPE he is just a crazy despot.

The facts are that he is 3rd generation dictator, he has spent years outside of N Korea, educated and "finished" with the wealthiest on Earth...obviously not in the dark like his subjects for the previous two regimes of his family. Probably knows more about wine than Speyside.

He sees what is really going on outside of his country. And he knows he can not keep info out any longer, in fact the leaking in of outside info has been happening for a decade or more. (sorry for this inconvenience, but Thanks Obama, and W too) It's no longer a few groups of people huddled in dark basements trying to find Radio Free Europe on an AM radio...info finds everyone in today's world. And our way is superior.

His people are hungry in the real sense, and thirsty for what they are learning has been kept from them. This way of life, this isolationism policy is no longer viable. Revolt is a few scant years away...or less.

But Little Fatso isn't the lunatic in the way we love to believe. He is more worldly than most of us. And he can be a superhero if he can deliver modern life, including FOOD and basic human necessities to his people.

How best to accomplish this? Make loud threatening noise, claim you're crazy enough to use your (fake?) force, poke the Bear, and then suddenly offer to consider previously non-negotiable points in exchange for..negotiations.

Brilliant moves. Not because he is fooling anyone but because the timing is so perfect for him to save his dying country.
His half brothers to the south have been enjoying Western pleasures for decades. He knows of these advantages first hand. And he knows it's well past time to open his country to a better life, or risk being overthrown, imprisoned, executed, whatever.

Donald, don't blow this. It's an opportunity being handed to you, he has no leverage, it's not about you.

You sound like that shrill Elizabeth Warren: "You didn't build that!"

Frank, if that moon whack job launched a nuke at NYC yesterday, you'd blame Trump.
Instead, he's "promising" to play nice and put away his nukes and you can't give Trump some of the credit? You can only hope he doesn't screw it up?

We embrace each other's wildly wrong-minded politics, because we both know we typically meet in the middle when push comes to shove.
Don't get the TDR on me now.

There is truth to what Frank said. The reality is that NK's missile tests have shown that he is still incapable of launching a nuclear attack with any precision, let alone strike the continental US. I live in SoCal and I scoff at NK's nuclear threat. The only people who say he is a threat to the US are those with a stake in the game: the US Intel community and US military-industrial complex. One HAS to relay the worse case scenario and the other benefits from any international threat and does its best to inflate them all.

The joint effort to host the Winter Olympics factored into the shift...many more NKoreans witnessed the splendor and beauty of South Korea. There seemed to be a new-found desire to treat each other as brothers and partners, different from before.
Was it because the SKoreans were afraid to mistreat the NK's thereby increasing the probability of military conflict that could only hurt them the most?

Maybe KJU saw the folly in continuing his Big Nuclear bluff...maybe the tightening sanctions became unbearable...

it's still early yet, and we have not dismantled a single bomb or production plant...the NKs have made promises before...but Trump deserves credit because he's the POTUS at a momentous time, potentially.

^^"Secret Meetings Bring North Korea to the Negotiation Table"

According to unnamed sources close to the matter, it was secret meetings between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and high ranking North Korean military officials that set for the stage for the upcoming Jong-un/Trump summit. These same sources claim that Jong-un stated in private that he would only meet with the Orange Orangutan due to the insistance of the high angel and godess, Hillary Clinton. "If it wasn't for Hillary Clinton's direct intervention and devine negotiation skills, I would have already laid waste to the American continent" Jong-un is reported to have stated.

Maybe I should apply for a job with the NYT or WP.
