I am an admirer of FP's, I collect not to write with as much as to admire. My daily writers are all modern as I just don't trust older pens, I wear suits again and I will not risk my suits and ties to any chance of leaks!

When I write with my older pens, I dip them and use them only at my desk.

I picked this pen up last weekend, I love the lines of this pen!

Its an Eversharp Skyline from the mid 40's, you may notice the modernistic similarities between this pen cap/clip and the 20th Century steam locomotive; both were designed by Henry Dreyfuss.

I just dipped it and wrote with it, really smooth on good paper.

Classic. I love it. 🌫

The only expensive pen I have is a roller ball custom made from olive wood out of Israel. Its the only pen that I use for my cigar journal. I have to heavy of a hand for fountain pens.

Could never operate a fountain pen....at all....even if I could get past the 'scratchiness', my warped-azz left handed writing brings my hand down through everything recently put to paper....its a mess with any instrument. But, simple fact is that philistine that I am, I never gained the appreciation for the form, much less the function. Give me 1 each Skilcraft U.S. Government Retractable Black Barrel Medium Point Ball Point Pen, Black Ink, and I am good to go

Man I know what you mean about that "scratchiness" feeling. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up like when you rake your teeth across them old ice cream wooden spoons or rake nails across the chalk board. Damn I cant stand it just thinking about it.

My grandfather was a draftsman at a Patent Office in Chicago many years ago, and they used to draw their prints with FPs.

Such an instrument would be wasted on my awful chicken scratch.

Don’t let your handwriting keep you from trying a fountain pen.

Get yourself a Lamy or a Pilot Metropolitan with a medium nib to start, both under $20. You’ll find that you may enjoy it. Both use cartridges so it’s easy to get started.

Of course knowing how to spell helps!

Cursive is a lot like riding a bike; you’ll fall but it doesn’t hurt!

What you may find out is that it’s like preparing your cigar. You take a moment to take off the cap, post it (putting the cap onto the other end of the pen), compose in your mind what you want to write and start.
It’s like cutting and lighting your smoke. Contemplation and anticapation leads to gratification.

Dang was that an illiteration?

Handwriting with a fp slows life down and it will give you a tactile connection to your words as well as reflect your mood and personality. It does this due to the pressure you apply as you write, you’ll get feedback through the nib and pen as you write.

Of course I write this pecking away on my phone with my thumbs and smoking a cigar!
