U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Memphis, caught some attention for the support he offered Strzok in an afternoon that was full of fiery exchanges.

"If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would," Cohen told Strzok. "This has been an attack on you and a way to attack Mr. Mueller and the investigation that is to get at Russian collusion involved in our election."

that hearing was just political theater to reinforce the con narrative that the Russian investigation is invalid due to a biased FBI. It is an inoculation against possible negative findings in the Mueller report, planting more seeds in the court of public opinion...

it reminded me of the Benghazi hearings, which were totally intended to cast Hillary in a negative light, hoping to bait her into saying something to show she was less than Presidential.

"What difference does it make?" was the money shot...

Maybe but you're off topic.. and Hillary's smirk through the whole thing said it all.. she knew nothing would happen to her... despite the lies she told... 😟

Back on topic. This was a stupid thing that Cohen said. I think that he unintentionally cheapened what a Purple Heart medal represents and stands for. 🌫 [ram27bat]

Political theater? Sure. There was no realistic expectation of actually learning anything. But 'innoculation .....'.

I don't think so. Nothing so calculated.
I think the outrage towards Strozk and Page is warranted. Unprofessional government employees is one thing -- but this guy was on the front lines of a couple things that still had the potential to be huge. His bias isn't in question - and anyone who says they believe that it didn't affect his work is lying. But, I don't think anyone on the right wanted anything out of yesterday's circus beyond publicly humiliating a dumb chit who, IMO, deserved it. It's the grandstanding about nothing related to subject at these hearings that bothers me quite a bit. Both sides do it. But you listen to the Purple Heart guy and you understand completely why Congress' approval ratings are lower than hemorrhoids....and even lower than Nickleback.

no defense for the Purple Heart comment, and no real justification for that open "hearing".

If the FBI and that agent really wanted to act on their perceived biases against Trump, why didn't they leak that people in his campaign were being investigated, as early as April 2016, for links to Russians messing with the elections, before November, like the Comey letters about the Hillary investigation?

Mueller yanked him and his girlfriend asap from further participation in the special investigation when their text messages were made public. Mueller is a Republican, appointed to head the FBI by #43.

Just cause they said they didn't doesn't mean they didn't.. they were most likely working for the Russians... 😟

if they had leaked, the MSM, in the words of the cons, woulda had an orgasmic field day similar to the uproar caused by the Access Hollywood kittykat grabbing video...

The FBI, before this, had a reputation of being very conservative, as most law enforcement agencies are. It's been headed by GOP Directors for decades.

I'd guess that lib agents are in a very small minority....wonder where all the anti-Hillary text messages by FBI agents are...

Texas GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert directly asked Strzok about his affair with former FBI attorney Lisa Page. He said "I see you looking there with a little smirk, how many times did you look so innocent into your wife's eye and lie to her about Lisa Page?"

Cohen's comment was deplorable, but Gohmert's comment was just as deplorable. Both sides should be ashamed of themselves.

The Republicans smacked of McCarthyism. The Democrats praised a sleazebag.
