I was reading an article where president Trump articulated he wanted immigration reform that changed immigration to a merit based system. He basically said immigrants should be able to add something positive to our society and not be a drain on our society. This seems like a very good idea to me.

Many have expressed the same reasoning for years that our immigration system should be based on bringing in those who can and will contribute most to our society. Even many left of center like Robert Reich have written about this view.

But there are many who think this smacks of some form of genocide by design. Not to mention those who think of our immigration system is a great source of future votes to be farmed.

I don't like land mines, those are messy...

Automated turrets and predator drones are ok though as long as they don't go sentient.

Our oldest daughter had a blasted Pomeranian that we got stuck with when she moved out. I swear the thing was part Chupacabra. It would take on the Rottweilers, and latter on, the English Mastiff.

Wow, Allen, yet another point we agree on. What some on the extreme left don't seem to understand, is that many of the "Socialist Paradises" they love so much, have merit based immigration laws that are far more restrictive then our current laws which they decry.
