Why is it that a civil democratic society as advanced as the USA is, at large, unable to see how close we are to getting to an on-ramp to tyranny?

Our POTUS, who is officially the chief law enforcement officer of the land, destructively harangues and undermines federal law enforcement agencies and the judiciary, dangerously raising the level of distrust of those key pillars of our society among large swaths of our people.

Our POTUS openly flouts the rule of law, telling his underlings that he will pardon them if they break the law to do his bidding...

and most dangerously, our POTUS is threatening to use our military in unlawful and un-Constitutional ways, to further his own domestic agendas, beyond the limits that our laws allow, laws that restrict the military to protecting the country from outside threats and not to engage in domestic law enforcement... laws intended to prevent our military from threatening
our democracy....

where are the 2nd Amendment freedom fighters who have at their cores, a fear of our military/government taking away our civil liberties...

let's be clear about what the definition of liberty is and who it applies to...our Constitution says "all people"...not all citizens...our founders believed in the value of immigration as a cornerstone of this republic...and the rule of law over the rule of a monarch...

this slope is so slippery, that it'll become easy for another POTUS to round up other groups who can be demonized as threats...


martial law has never been used by the fed/US military in the US...local govts, states/municipalities have, using local law enforcement or National Guard, not US military...
