This feels like a dangerous precedent.
Not only does this seem to go against the existing federal rulings that you can't sue a gun maker for crimes committed with their product, but it could pave the way for similar lawsuits against manufactures of potentially dangerous goods, or even those goods that are perceived to be dangerous.
You make a product that's used in a mass murder? Get ready to be sued.

Initially I could see the reasoning behind suing cigarette companies. They lied about the dangers of their product, so I don't think the comparison is appropriate.

After they started putting the warning labels, telling people "this will kill you", the onus falls on the dipsh*ts that go forward despite the warnings.

We all know cigars are bad for us, yet we do it... our own damn fault.

98.2% of gun owners never murder anyone... so the makers get sued for the 1.8% who do??

So the next time a retard drives a box van through a crowd, we gonna sue the maker of the van? Idiotic.

This is nonsense. As stated above, should they ultimately win I suspect a significant number of trials lawyers will file all sorts of ridiculous product liability suits.

That being said, the SCOTUS is going to allow a case to be tried. Regardless of the outcome, I suspect the Court will revisit the case. Unless I’m missing something the Court usually allows a case to work it’s way through the system before it rules on the merits.
