In the description of various cigars in Cigarbid it is sometimes mentioned that different competing brand cigars are made in the same factory.

How does this work?

Are they simply the same cigars re-branded?

Do they all use the same tobacco but in different blends?

Does each brand bring their own proprietary tobacco to the factory and the cigars are then assembled using their tobacco but the same workers as the other brands?

Or is it something different, or some combination of the above?

Thanks so much. 🇨🇮

It depends on the quality of Cigar. When you're talking about higher end cigars they use different blends comprised of tobacco from various farms.

When you're talking about cheapo sticks, they could very well all be rebranded dog rockets.

I’m sure many mass production plants are set up to run multiple products / brands all the time. You run one line one day / week then run something else after the order is fulfilled. In a cigar facility I’m sure the rollers are skilled enough to transition from one “recipe” to another, flawlessly. Whether or not the products are all the same but just re-labeled, well...I’m pretty sure that info will never be disclosed. [gonzo]

No, but it sounds like Fords, Chevys and Chryslers are all being made in the same factory.

And until they built their first factory around a year ago, all Gurkha's were made in other company cigar factories.
