So this network has gotten a bit of popularity recently, specifically among a certain set of our population. Let's say, people who are unhappy with the news being presented to them and want a network which will give them exactly the news they want.

Interestingly, the president fits into this category. So he's given white house credentials to this "news" network.

Let's look at the sort of questions the reporters for this network are posing the president

OANN State Media Flunkie: "Mr. President, do you consider the term ‘Chinese food’ to be racist because it is food that originated from China?"
Twitler's response (as expected): "I don’t think that’s racist at all,"
OANN State Media Flunkie: "On that note, major left-wing media, even in this room, have teamed up with Chinese communist party narratives, and they are claiming you are racist for making these claims about ‘Chinese virus,’ Is it alarming that major media players, just to oppose you, are siding with foreign state propaganda, Islamic radicals, and Latin gangs and cartels and they work right here out of the White House with direct access to you and your team?"

This of course teed twitler up to go on a rant against "the media", claim "I don’t think anybody has done as much as I have done in three years,”

and, completely without irony, the OANN State Media Flunkie then stated: "they are siding with state propaganda,"

So... let's look a little deeper into this OANN "White House Correspondent", Chanel Rion (said without any snickering, I promise).

One of Rion's segments on OANN literally pushed the conspiracy theory that COVID-19 was produced in a lab in North Carolina and released in China by the "deep state". This segment was just 5 days ago.

This same "White House Correspondent" was a political cartoonist who pushed both the Seth Rich conspiracy theories, as well as the "Spirit Cooking" conspiracy theory (in which Democrats are apparently Satanic Cannibals)

Seriously. This is insane.

Their commentary heads are right out of the Limbaugh/Hannity school of 'journalism'.

But, I must admit that their news reporting programs actually played very straight.

I am assuming that you consider their segment "Exposing China's Coronavirus: The Fears, The Lies and The Unknown" to b a news reporting program? Because the parts of that I saw was a lot of crazy conspiracy sh@t

I don't find OANN credible on most things and they tend to spew disinformation. (remember this is about OANN not other news sources who have their own issues). OANN is not a solid alternative to other bias that does exist unless you just accept bias and want your own flavor.

There are very few straight players. All of 'em have some straight news people that try to follow decent journalistic standards and norms. It's just getting difficult to identify them because the news and opinion is blurring and less time is being spent on straight news. I don't find OANN straight news reporting as decent as dst does but opinions and bungholes.

You can predict the disinformation campaign in here and elsewhere by watching them though. Too bad there are no vegas lines on it or an attentive person could clean up.

Watched it couple times in last couple weeks - maybe on weekends. Wasn't one of the shows with someone's name in the title -- But they were truly news programs with very little spin. I was surprised and fairly impressed.

Another news program that surprised and impressed me recently was an ABC COVID special- maybe a 20/20 show? Very well done and avoided easy political pot shots

You act as if their is a better news source for info. I disagree with you. It's worth a half-hearted meh... that's all you're getting, dammit.

There are much better sources or better yet multiple sources but to each their own....... its an echo chamber (i know they bring in the sacrificial other view sometimes). and they are not alone.

I have to say (this is not related to any other comments) I just don't have that much invested in any one source. Some are better, some are worse. I find OANN to be terrible as is MSNBC Both sort of grew out of dubious circumstance. They are ok to watch for a chuckle, and that doesn't mean everything is fake or wrong.... but it certainly shouldn't be your main source. I like to watch Springer but don't learn all that much until he explains it all at the end LOL
