I bought one ounce of dried shrooms in my late teens. Shared with anyone willing to go on a trip with me for a few years. I think my love of camping comes from these experiences. A tent in the woods, a friend or three, bonfire and music. Always stuck to a 2g dose, never tried anything but. Girl I was banging, who's boyfriend I bought them from, told me to stick to 2g or less, so I did. Didn't know anyone else with experience, so I just did what she said.
I loved those times. And I really think psychedelics have a therapeutic use as it opens up channels in your brain that you don't use in the conscious life. The overwhelming love and feeling a connection with everything around you, the feelings of purpose. Endless laughter with friends who I may have only known for a short time but felt like a lifetime of good times. It's really an amazing time that can't be explained, only experienced.
But I had a bad trip in my early 20's. I was incredibly sad, and thinking of everything I'd ever done wrong, even chit from elementary school. It was relentless, just wave after wave of negative feelings. It didn't let up. Then my wife (girlfriend at the time) showed up drunk after a wedding and wanted to get laid and crash for the night. It made things worse. But thankfully she passed out after a little while and I was able to calm down.
Gave away what was left after that. I'd like to go again, but that bad trip will probably repeat itself as trips tend to amplify your subconscious, and in the back of my head I'd be thinking I'm gonna get sad again. But to this day the people I've tripped with (and still see/talk to) are still some of the closest relationships I have. They really are magic.
