we seem to be at a place in time when anything goes in our media... and all manner of lies, disinformation, misinformation, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories could be published regardless of their truthfulness...

from left leaning media to right tilting sources, the use of "alternate facts" was sought after, paid for and consumed by audiences eager to have their beliefs reinforced...

this trend intensified during the Trump presidency where media outlets publishing unfavorable pieces were labelled "enemies of the people" and the media devolved into a war over the truth

is this phenomena an accepted fact of life, or will we return to a time when the truth mattered, when ethical and honest journalists were among America's most respected citizens, and we all could agree on a common set of truth and facts?

Maybe a corner has turned...Alex Jones, far right media man who launched Infowars, has been found liable for damages in four different defamation trials over his false claims about the Sandy Hook massacre...
