Today a package arrived, a box of Boyer Candy Co Butterscotch Peanut Butter Smoothie Cup candy.

These things are fantastic. Essentially a Reese's Peanut Butter cup but instead of chocolate on the outside they use buttery smooth butterscotch.

Always partial to the ZERO candy bar.

Introduced in 1920, it is composed of a combination of caramel, peanut and almond nougat covered with a layer of white chocolate fudge. Its outwardly white color — an unusual color for a candy bar — has become its trademark.

Sometimes after smoking an herbal infused Dutch Master, I will surgically implant a single segment of Kit-Kat into a 3 Musketeers. Then I eat it with a fork and knife. Then some chips...maybe some sorbet.....if I'm lucky, I'll find one of those Hatch red chili dark chocolate bars.

Last week Safeway had a BOGO on the candy fka "Nestle Crunch Bar". Got two of them (1.55 oz.) and was saving them for our granddaughters. Unfortunately (...or fortunately, depending on which side of the fence you're on...) neither of them wanted one. Ended up polishing one up a few minutes ago.

As I was about to throw away the wrapper, noticed that it didn't say "Nestle" on it. Huh? Did some Googling and found out that Nestle sold the U.S. portion of their candy business to the Italian company Ferrero back in 2018! I didn't taste any difference but noticed that the bar wasn't wrapped in aluminum foil anymore.

Not sure how many other candies have changed hands but I'mma sure there's been a ton of buyouts / mergers, etc.

I had some Reese’s cups today. They’re out in the truck. Valentine’s Day present. They’re just special when they’re out in the cold. Cup gets hard.

I'm finding that avoiding sugary sweets to be tougher than the IR cigar buying hiatuses. That's prolly due to being able to smoke whenever I want because I have so many cigars and don't need more. On the other hand, I rarely have sweets in the house, except during the holidays and Halloween. Those occasions trigger cravings...
