In honor of MACS’ thread….

We are relocating from the San Francisco Bay Area to Houston Texas. The plan is to be there before the end of 2022. We will have lived here just over seven years.

Corporate relocation - all expenses paid. We are taking both our jobs with us.

Step 1: finish bathroom remodel job which was planned way before this came about and is way nicer than I would have done had we known this was coming.

Should've just stuck with a coat of paint. Electrical issues rarely pop up during a color change

Painting is in order before we move in. Also going to have the garage floor acid washed and epoxied.

Then look into artificial turf in da back yard.

Artificial turf is big in this area right now. No water needed and very low maintenance although I have seen some have weed sprout right through the turf. Not sure it is good for dogs as I hear it is hot.

We had three corporate moves, nice, however, when we moved from Texas to here we received duplicate homeowner payments for twelve months. That was nice, ours finally sold as the payments ran out. At the closing, I had to pony up $17,500 just to get rid of the Texas house. Construction was done and the oil patch had dried up. If that wasn't bad enough, I found out that Westinghouse bought their employee's old homes.

I would like to have it in my front yard but I would either have to cut down a huge mesquite tree or get some kind of industrial vacuum to keep the place cleaned up.

Blowers are great too. As a teenager, I had to hand pick leaves from white marble gravel in our backyard. I did try a house vac, too small and not enough suction, shop vacs were not a thing back then.

I had turf in my back yard in Temecula. Dog loved it and would go from sunning on it, to shade, back to sun.

Also... they dig up the grass, lay crushed rock and sand, then a weed barrier, and then the turf... and it drains just fine.

This will be our fifth corporate move.

Crew is here on a Saturday to move the plumbing.

We have a party starting at 4pm for the daughter. Going away party since she is moving to New York City to go back to college to become a physician assistant. I’ve got a catered taco bar and lots of beer, wine, and White Claws and that kind of crap that millennials drink. Back in the day we called it Zima and wine coolers.

Gonna be a busy day.
