Was running errands with my son yesterday.

The Talking Heads started playing on his phone Bluetoothed to his radio in his car.

Him: "Dad, do you like the Talking Heads?"
Me: "Of course... turn it up."

His music selection of great bands mirrors mine without me pushing it on him. Must be a genetic thing.

Starts simple with David Byrne, a boombox, a acoustic guitar - just the only one guy on stage and progresses to a full stage affair.

Meh... not really a fan.

One of the great things about about music is there are many flavors to taste and to try.

Music is the food for ears (and mind) and we all have different tastes.

It's one of those songs that after the few bars of the intro that you know what the song is coming up... at least for me.

Been a fan since their first album in ‘77 and continued to be one until their break up in the early ‘90s. ‘Cause I was working in the retail record biz, I was always able to score (free) demos of their albums…and even after I left the biz to work for Sony.

Had the boy on a good path. Then he started running with a bad crowd in middle school and got all hippety hoppity. He still shows signs of taste, but it's largely lost at this point

Despite trying to get them indoctrinated into my music, my kids aren’t real fans…but I was proud of them for taking the “History of Rock n’ Roll” in college. My daughter even knew that Mick Taylor replaced Brian Jones!

They should play in Washington DC. Performing…… Burning Down The House!

Would play a new few groups for them every year since they were 7/8, started with beatles. They like the olde standards too Sinatra, Ella. Motown.

They don't like RUSH, and that makes me sad

My teenage daughter’s favorite band is Queen…..the only new music she listens to is Pirate Metal.

Glad that you got to share that. One of my greatest memories was when my son would come up to me with some old band and ask my opinion. He knew my passion for music. I would often tell him that the journey for me was if I liked a particular artist then I would go back and listen to artists that they said inspired them to make the music they do. Sometimes like with the Rolling Stones you hear it. Keith LOVES American Blues greats and borrows from them. Sometimes you don't hear it like with Eddie Van Halen citing Eric Clapton...I NEVER heard it...at all.

I was instantly hooked on the Talking Heads from my very first exposure. They appeared on SNL. I thought it was a skit of insane asylum patients.

Got to see them with the Psychedelic Furs. They were gods for that night.

Wish they could've made more music together. I guess from all that I've read David is difficult to work with and wants things HIS way or no way. You can catch the Tom Tom Club which has the drummer and bassist from the band and when they're live they'll dust off some Talking Heads material but not much. I still hope for a reunion show and tour of some type as David's solo material is a lot like Sting's. It's severely lacking. Like it or not those 2 needed their original bands to make relevant music.

My personal fave is this...love it for the lyrics and they way pull it off.

Haven't watched the video, but that's how their concert started back in 1984 (?) timeframe. At Providence Civic Center.

They're far from being my favorite.
But their concert was one of the best I've been too.
