Nothing deeply philosophical to write about today but a thought did come to me.

The number of immigrant truck drivers is growing at a pretty good clip. Unfortunately, their culture is much different than ours. I’ve found, and many USA born drivers agree that as a group the immigrants are pretty damn selfish. I could give many examples of their general driving habits but that’s not my focus from the throne this AM.

It’s customary when a driver finishes fueling his truck he pulls up into the designated “short” term parking area to allow another driver to begin fueling while he “quickly” goes inside and gets snacks etc….. then he pulls out. It’s customary that if that driver is going to be more than 5-10 minutes he’ll pull straight through and park in a designated slot. As a reminder the truck stops play a prerecorded message over the PA system every 5 minutes or so reminded drivers that as a courtesy to other drivers the are to pull away from the fuel island when they are done fueling. Yea right.

But that’s not what’s really on my mind. This morning as I’m finishing up I’m thinking that’s wasted use of the PA. Perhaps a better use of the PA would be to remind drivers that as a courtesy to others they should flush as needed.

With the weather, Pilot has been a mess…they should have opened up the county fairgrounds to them to park in.

Don’t even want to go there. It was a chit show yesterday. Pulled off I-40 just west of Kodak, TN to take my 30 ant the Pilot Only 2 trucks in the turn lane ahead of me when I got there. Took me 10 minutes to get to the median crossover. Instead of turning in I pulled a U and found an off brand Mom & Pop on the other other side of the 40. It wasn’t without its share of dumbazzes but it was doable.

I remember hearing that message on the PA at a Pilot and thinking that should be common courtesy. I get it if you're in a rush and have an empty tank and run in and come back out before auto fill clicks off but to leave your truck sitting there blocking the pump is a ****** move. I have a lot of respect for drivers, these days there are so many idiots on the road with their heads up their phones or just driving stupid. Stay safe and let me know if you come up to MA or CT and have a minute to have a cigar with me.

Was in Northampton, MA back in early December.

IIRC I had a load that emptied in Waterbury. Then spent the night at a tiny truck stop in Springfield, MA. Got up and drove up to the Coke plant in Northampton to load.

On the way back home a brake cylinder broke off on my trailer as I was passing through Atlanta. Spent 3 hours getting that fixed.

The next morning the brake on the pair of tires directly in front of the pair where the cylinder broke caught fire a mile south of the Tuskegee exit. Had to call the fire department because my powder extinguisher wasn’t going to put out a metal fire. Spent another 6 hours in the shop to fix that.

Chitty trip for sure.

How long have you been 18 wheeling?

Been through Kingman. By far the largest trailer park I have ever seen. It was like an infinity pool of decomposing aluminum glistening in the distance.

Think Kingman is a huge trailer park, take a peek at the I-80 truck stop in Walcott, IA. It makes Kingman look like Circle K

I’ve had to flat foot my rig the last 3 days. Due in Vegas tomorrow at 14:00. Was hoping to get in early, but the receiving clerk at the customer told me a few hours ago that they are completely booked up to my scheduled appointment.

I’ve I was headed to Brawley since the 9th. Just don’t know were I would be headed when leave Saturday. Found out about the 16:45 Mountian I was going to West Palm.

I love this load because I’ll pass 3 miles from my house. Normally I get to spend 2 nights in my bed without taking time off. As an added bonus Fenster lives about an hour north of YeeHaw Junction. So we’ve been able to hang out a few times in the last. I sent him a text after I posted the previous post. Waiting to see how long it takes him to look at it.

Normally this particular load finals Thursday AM. I haven’t yet gotten the official dispatch. Just a text from my DM. So I won’t know the actual delivery date until it hits my ELD in the rig. I’m basing my schedule on the last 10 times I pulled this load.

Sitting in a booth at the Denny’s as I type.
