So Austin City council votes to strip funding from police budget. Now they don’t have enough officers to run 9-1-1 calls because apparently all but two officers left on duty are busy guarding the city council.

Village of Dolton by me hasn't been paying the car note on their cruisers, bank called them on the debt.

This is more Crook County IL corruption and greed. Same as its ever been

Sooooo, the BIG CITY...and I mean a very decent size, with a couple colleges/ universities? With AUSTIN CITY LIMITS / PBS MUSIC show?

Has NO police city budget?

That is crazy!!!

WTF?

How about the suburbs around it?

Suburbs are always fine!

Austin defunded the police when it was cool to do so. Cut the budget by 1/3. Things went downhill.

They’ve restored the budget but it hasn’t stopped departures and retirements. People don’t want to be a cop when a decent percentage of the political base hate cops. I think the police are still working without a contract there due to anti-police ballot measures coming in the fall.

The new city slogan is “Keep Austin Oakland!”
