Willie Mays.

Never got to see him live, but saw him on television many, many times.
Probably the greatest baseball player evah in my lifetime.

I'll trust the opinion of the greatest hitter evah...Ted Williams, who said about Willie "He was born to play baseball".

It feels like a huge chunk of my youth has been stolen.

Miss ya, Willie. Say "Hey" to Teddy Ballgame, please.

Wish I coulda watched him in his prime. We barely got MLB games back-in-the-day so by the time baseball was broadcast on a regular basis into Hawaii, Willie was nowhere near what he once was.

RIP Willie. 🙏

RIP, by the time I got to see him in Dodger stadium he was at the tail end of his illustrious career.

One of the greats for sure.

RIP Willie... dude used to play stickball with the kids and buy them ice cream before games. Super classy.

RIP #24.

Fox network did a very nice tribute to #24 during the pre-game for the Giants vs Cards game from Rickwood Field in Birmingham.

The game at Rickwood was originally scheduled to honor the Negro Leagues, but with May's death I guess one could say that it was a double tribute.

Rickwood is the oldest ballpark in the U.S. having opened in 1910. It was a perfect setting for the tribute with May's beginning his playing career there.

The Cards winning the game was a bonus.
