Good Monday Afternoon to All! Coffee, breakfast, lunch done, Drove over to a work buddies house to pick up an antique lathe and associated parts. It's got a flat belt drive system. It's strapped down in the back of my truck waiting to go to another buddies house for refurbishment. He's an actual machinist and likes restoring old equipment.

The sad part, I found out our old neighbor, a retired submariner and super good guy has a bad heat. His Doc said he had three choices, hospice, a transplant or a mechanical heart. He chose the heart pump, didn't want to "waste" a good hero on an older 65'ish guy. 😰 If you can spare a prayer or even some good juju he could use it. 😣

Ooof. Sorry to hear, Gene... prayers for your neighbor.

I'm making burnt ends with a chuck roast for the first time evah... we'll see how they turn out. I'm thinking they're gonna be delicious.

Prepped same way I do pork belly: 2 hours in smoke, 1 hour in covered foil pan to braise and another hour on the smoke to crisp up.

I bought a box of "burnt ends" from costco, @$23, they weren't too bad. About 6 servings a box.

Not homemade, but not terrible either.

Continue to chase DED's accomplishments. 4 miles in by 11:00. And he walks in Hell temps.
Split in thirds between the dog, a solo walk with an audio book and a treadmill.

Maybe I have to get up at 4:30 instead of 5:30.

Fishing was tough this trip. I caught a couple 15 inch smallmouth and my brother caught a 15 and a 16. 16 was just over 2 lbs. We also caught a few smaller fish but it was nothing like some of our previous trips over the years.

It's not been raining much over there either and the small mountain stream that feeds the impoundment has dried up and turned into meadow. Lake water is hot for a lake that's almost 4,000 ft in elevation. Oxygen is low because of heat and lack of rain. Fish weren't as active, even in the morning.

Had a good time though. Nice weather. Smoked some cigars, cooked some steaks and burgers on the open fire, had some good laughs with my brother, and some good conversation.

Back to Hivelyland chores. If we ever get any kind of sustained rain I'd like to get back up there in August, if I have time.

Fishing in CA lakes has been down for several years due to drought. We've been getting skunked at lakes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains that have been historically abundant...

cooled some today ...high of 97...

Morning everyone. Nice start to the day 79* but on its way to 100* today but the humidity is a little lower today so that helps at least.

Morning folks. A not so nice 87 and headed up quickly so preparing to sweat my nads off on the walk and then dig into the pool pump issues. Maybe get to the gym late morning and prolly I should expect to get sore since I'm a slacker when on vacations.

Up at 4:30. Dog walked in the dark (reflective vest and headlamp on for a high level of safety and geekiness). Walked myself after. 3.1 miles in prior to 6:00 a.m.

Feeling like a nap.

70 now. Dew point finally dropping into the low 60s.

Just a little bit windy last night. Bottles strewn across the cul de sac this morning. Was driving by an empty detergent bottle and thought, "that looks like our detergent."

Oh chit

Late for work, but the neighbors won't hate me at least

Good Tuesday Noon to All! It's already 82° on the way to 96° today. Coffee, breakfast range trip and lunch done. Had a tomato sandwich on home made sourdough bread. Yum!

Project for today is staying cool and figuring out how to get the several hundred pound lath out of my truck as we are expecting rain.

Into hour two of a steady rain. Lawn and garden is thoroughly soaked.

I'm glad too. Did not want to water the garden this evening.

Over and out.

Enjoying another sizzling day working on my piece of hell on earth.
I’m seeing visions, although I haven’t ingested any peyote.
Is that you Paw???

I appreciate the offer and yes, I am tempted to do the pull off. I'll jack it up enough to slide onto a rolling toolbox then use winch straps to pull it onto the tool box. Once I do that delivery is off, he can come and load it in his vehicle.

I had Goulash instead of tacos. Should have gone with the tacos.
