Crazy to think we need a foreigner to help secure free speech. He is a gift.

Summary from the AllSides News Team.

The Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) is shutting down, it announced Thursday.

For Context: The non-profit group was sued by X and video platform Rumble for allegedly colluding with other advertising agencies to withhold monetization from conservative outlets and "disfavored platforms."

How the Media Covered It: The Daily Caller (Right bias) framed GARM's disbandment as a win for free speech, highlighting the non-profit's censorship of conservative outlets and the House Judiciary GOP's response, which said the disbandment was a "win for the First Amendment." CNN (Lean Left bias) framed the story as a loss for the little guy, highlighting this quote from GARM at the top of the article: “GARM is a small, not-for-profit initiative, and recent allegations that unfortunately misconstrue its purpose and activities have caused a distraction and significantly drained its resources and finances,” and describing GARM's founding after a shooter livestreamed his killings on Facebook.

Who is Driving Advertisers Away?: Before GARM disbanded, X said it had reinstated its relationship with GARM; an op-ed on the left argues that suing an ally out of existence makes future advertisers wary of using X. X has also filed lawsuits against the Center for Countering Digital Hate and Media Matters for analyses the groups have published about hate speech on X, alleging the watchdogs have driven away advertisers. The Center for Countering Digital Hate recently released a new analysis stating that misleading claims about the U.S. election posted by Elon Musk on X have garnered over 1.2 billion views.

I've long held the belief that Musk bought Twitter with the mission to do exactly this kind of stuff.

He shattered the "echo chamber" that was Twitter and opened up for Free Speech.

Now this.

g00gl3 getting sued goes a long ways too.
