Poll Question: What razor type do you use

Just a poll out of curiosity.

I moved to double edge after disposable orange bic's started coming in jail issue dull profile. I'm not an accessories guy. I have an inexpensive English butterfly razor with blades made in Chicago. About $0.08 per shave for the first 500 shaves.

You forget Single Edge Razors (Injectors, GEM blade razors, etc...), but that's OK.
I only use DE and SE razors—no electric or multi-blade cartridge types for me.

What DE blades are made in Chicago? The only DE blades I've ever known that are still Made in the USA are from AccuTec in Verona, Virginia.

I'm in the process of switching.......maybe.
For about 25 years I've used Schick Extreme 3 exclusively for both my head and face. Originalally they were a cartridge, now disposable. There have been the occasional foray into double edge, but it never sticks. Recently I've been giving the Freebird electric a try. I really like it for my head, but for my face/neck not so much. My winter beard is gonna shed in a couple more months so I'll see how it works out.

You can squeak yourself in within those categories. Blade count would not have exceeded the polling space.

I get the made in USA Wilkinson sword blades. They're just Schick alloy stamped at Gillett. Maybe I can't get those anymore. I buy 200 at a time, I'm down to 80 after the last purchase in 2020.

Shave? what is this word you use? I have had a full beard of varying length for almost 2 decades. at one point it got caught in a zipper about halfway up... currently it just reached the top button of a dress shirt. Generally my barber does all the cutting and lining up with a straight razor but if i need to clean up the edges in between barber visits i use a Harrys disposable, the kind with he replacment heads. one head lasts me 6 months or more because of how infrequent i use it . my daughter that is about to graduate high school has never seen my chin lol...

I’ve finally become exclusively double edge. Typically use muhle r41 favorite blade is the astra superior platinum. I’ve got a stash of the Russian made ones. I’m not terrible picky on blades I’ll use anything. Still have and use shark blades from when I first started. I do also use a single edge gem micromatic open comb. I like aggressive razors because I don’t shave every day.

I heard a few years ago the astra blades were gonna be made somewhere else so I grabbed 100 Now I feel like I don’t wanna use my hood blades up. Like I need to horde them 😂

I bought the Precision and did the year plan and got shaving cream, razor with razors and after shave gel. Haven't ordered them in a year because I have a stockpile. Use drug store brand gel for shaving cream because it's cheaper and I didn't really see a difference.

I have a couple of Muhle r89 models, I never bought an r41.

I have 5 Gem Micromatics, 3 original open comb Micromatics from the 1930s, one pre-WWII Micromatic Clog Pruf, and one post-WWII Micromatic Flying Wing.

After Putin screwed up Russia, Proctor & Gamble/Gillette pulled out of St. Petersburg and all Gillette DE blade production was moved to India. I've seen some are made in China too.
You can still find Russian-made Gillette DE blades ( Gillette Platinum, Gillette Nacets, Gillette Silver Blue, Gillette 7 O'clock etc...) out there. Check eBay
I have a horde that will last me forever. 😁.

Gillette?

Putin didn't want any part of DEI and probably recognized it when he saw it.

Oh. I kinda like boar brushes better than badger. I’ve got a horse brush too that stunk like hell for way too long. I’ve picked up several razors but my favorites are the gem and muhle r41. Shave soaps I alternate. Nothing I severely hated but I like some better than others. Aftershave I don’t have a favorite. Currently running old spice.
