LG
SAMSUNG
HIENESE
OR ROKU TV OR AMAZON FIRE TV

PROLLY GONNA GO LG...

THE BIGGEST THING FOR ME IS VIEWING FROM AN A.N.G.L.E.
CUZ I lay on couch and my noggin is about 4-5 ft
From the left...
Gotta be clear on an angle...

I have a Hisense TV in my fish house. While the image quality may not be as good as some it is very robust. It has bounced down thousands of miles of roads (Minnesota/Wisconsin winter roads are rough!) Many miles of ice roads. Been froze many times and been in the high heat of the summer all closed up. It works well! Angle viewing is fine other than a glare from the ceiling lights.

Two Samsung TVs have given us good service.

Costco has frequent good sales on TVs.

New TVs are pretty light, but unwieldy, some come with a stand to put them on a table, but most require a wall bracket assembly for wall mounting. A good place to get a bracket is:

https://www.monoprice.com

They also have cables to connect a DVD player or computer, LED TVs make wicked large screens.

I have a Roku TV, I rather enjoy the free available shows (with internet). Tv is ok picture is fine even on sporting events but no it’s not as amazing as the high dollar ones at Costco,

Honestly Jonsie you’ll have a hard time going wrong these days, and I’d get a pivot mount.

As a former Sony employee, I CANNOT, repeat, CANNOT, bring myself to buy anything other than a Sony…but, I did do my due diligence and compared the picture quality of LG and Samsung against the Bravia XBR that we settled on. The picture quality between the three brands was close but the difference in the details when it was dark was the tipping point. Nine out of 10 people won’t see or care but my “trained” eye did.

To me, iffin’ you’re happy with what you have, then fine. Vision, like palates, differs from person to person.

I cut the cord on cable TV many years ago and I don't miss it at all.

I use TV's that have Roku built in. I had an Amazon Fire Stick one but I didn't like the interface so I stuck with built in Roku.

I'm not a video fanatic so I probably wouldn't be able to differentiate between differences in video quality these days. I have a couple Hisense Roku TV and a Visio Roku. I had an LG one years ago and liked it but the power supply fried out so I had to trash it. I had a TLC years ago and liked it but wanted to upgrade to a larger screen. The picture quality of the ones I have/had, to me, look the same but don't use my eyes as a quality review.

Sound from the LCD TVs kind suck (in my experience) so I would recommend getting a sound bar at a minimum or if you are an audiophile, get a surround sound system.

Thanks a lot everyone for the great advice...
Once I get the check from USAA for my totalled vehicle I am buying a BEATER VAN ( 2007 CHEVY UPLANDER V6 VORTECH ENGINE W/ 135K
DIRTY AS HELL INSIDE but outside very decent for
Only $900.00!!
A/C still works, new brakes, needs one tire and a spare wheel +tire..
I'll prolly get 2 new tires and a used wheel from the junkyard..
Gotta get some DUPONT BUFFING COMPOUND AND BUFF OUT MINOR OCIDATION ON HOOD...

MY CAR WAS A MESS, WOULDNT PASS INSPECTION/ EMISSIONS $300++ TO FIX, ...FRONT LEFT BRAKE CALIPER KEPT STICKING AND BAD BRAKE CABLE HOSE $400 ( CALIPER, PAD, HOSE, NEW ROTOR)... THEY FINALLY GAVE me a decent $$$ number for total loss from tornado storm at cabin, tree hit the car.. first time in 5+ years USAA TREATED ME FAIRLY...

I TRUED TO BUY IT BACK FOR SCRAP AFTER TOTALED but it was $850 and $2,200 in cash but they change the TITLE FROM AN "A" TO A NEW LETTER ? Salvage? "R" Of designation ...then you have to get a
PA enhanced inspection...( mine couldn't even pass the regular inspection)) but my 20+ yr mechanic buddy said those ENHANCED PA INSPECTIONS ARE BRUTAL AND COST THOUSANDS TO FIX AND MEET THE STANDARDS...
I DONT NEED THAT HEADACHE...

It's been a few years since I bought a TV but from what I remember Sony is better for movies and darker rooms. Samsung is better for brighter rooms because of the screen images they use. Also Samsung was/is better if there is any gaming played on them. Sound quality wise Sony wins. They both are great. Just kinda depends on how far you away are gonna sit from it, what you plan on watching. Movies go with Sony, gaming or live TV go with Samsung.

Had a Visio liked it. Went to Samsung. Like it
My parents asked opinions I told them for the price Visio is pretty good. They bought two Visio and they’re happy. Prolly had them 3 years now.

No clue what I’d buy next. Likely whatever was on sale

I had a Vizio for a looooong time. Gave it to my wife's friend when we moved and she is still using it. It's gotta be 15+ years old.

I got 2 Fire TV's before we left CA from Amazon. The 55" is in the living room, the 50" is in the man cave. Probably had them 4 years now... got 'em around Christmas time and it was around $800 for BOTH of them.

Is it even possible to by a non smart TV anymore? We have an element and 2 Samsungs in the house and all are great TVs. i like the samsungs more and are more fix it yourself friendly. had one blow a board and kill 2 inputs during a bad thunderstorm and big power surge and was able to get parts pretty cheap and really fast to replace my self with a quick YT vid on how to diagnose and replace.

in honesty though, we rarley use the smart TV functions and alost always use a Fire stick for "tv" watching.

Edit: the sound on the samsungs is not great and not very load so a $100 sound bar is almost a must but makes it WAAAAAAAY better.

If you know anyone is Los Angeles tonight, you might be able to get a bunch of smart tvs for next to nothing.

Start watching Ebay in the morning.
