Rich Gannon recieves MVP! It probably wont be a big deal to him, if he doesnt take the Raiders to the Superbowl. Rich Gannon is one of those Pros that doesn't look for self recognition. He does Great things & just walks off the field. This MVP award is well deserved.

GO RAIDERS!!

I think the majority of the pros out there are looking for a ring rather than an MVP trophy. While it is great to receive an MVP trophy, it is even better to win at the big dance.

Basically, he won MVP for the regular season...the true MVP will shine in the playoffs. Who knows, maybe it will be him shining, proving he is and should be the MVP.

i.am.steve,
The MVP is for the regular season. I said in my original post that Gannon deserves it, but if he doesnt take them to the "promised land" it wont mean as much to him.
Did Mark Mcguire win a ring? Did Barry Bonds win a ring? No. Its not a requirement. Maybe it should be, but it isnt now.
This does give other GREAT players a chance that arent on playoff teams(Priest Holmes).
On another thread I did say that Gannon would probably trade all his records he broke this season and his MVP award for a Superbowl ring. Thanks for the responce.

Hey not bad for a former KC Chief backup, who should have been the starter in KC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He deserves the MVP and he is of the "old school" type of player!

Hats off to Rich!!

Mag, don't get me wrong...Gannon had a great season. He played extremely well, and his team backed him up just as well. I am not denying that fact. However, every player always feels something is missing without that ring. It's what they strive for, since they were kids.

He deserved it, and worked hard for it. But I am just saying, it will be interesting to see if the MVP for the regular season can continue throughout the playoffs for the ultimate goal, or if he too will feel like something is missing...

I thought I was the guy who said Gannon would trade all of his records in for a SB ring.....plagiarizer!!!LOL....congrats Mag...Gannon is very deserving of the reward for his tremendous season. You know, last year, Tailgater was telling anyone and everyone who wouldn't listen, how the New England Patriots were going to the promised land long before anyone even recognized the fact that they were a great team. We know how that ended up! You and the Raiders might be doing the same thing this year! Take care, John

Todog, As I recall you did say that. I agree, and did mention it to others. So I guess I said it too! You can have the copyright to it. I owe you one! Hehe!

Not to knock Gannon, but by all rights, Priest Holmes should've been the MVP. None of it will matter when the Eagles win the Superbowl! 🙂

hegemonic, Just curious. Did Priest Holmes set any records this season? I'm not sure myself.
I think that is one of the reasons Gannon got it. He almost beat the all time passing yds record, he set a new record for most 300yd games, most receptions in a season, most receptions in a row. Maybe others.
Also he never missed a game. Just my observation.
Without him on the team, the offence would go nowhere.

Mag,

What did you do when Al took the Raiders south for those dozen or so years, root secretly for the Niners?

CJBully, first I cried, then I was mad. Still watched all the games. Never became a 49er fan.

Now things are finally how they should be!

Did "LA Raiders" really ever sound right? Not to me.

Im Happy Again!

James, dont know why I'm still awake, but here goes! Weren't Emmetts records career type of records, instead of single season types of records? I'm not positive myself, I'm not a Dallas fan. I think Emmett was awesome for his age, but I think he has lost a step. The MVP is for performance for just one season. Emmett will never be forgotten and is a no brainer for the "Hall of Fame".

Mag don't listen to I.am.steve his idea of good football is watching Italian League soccer on the Italian channel. Gannon did deserve the MVP for this year. He orchestraded that high scoring offense with precision. It's amazing how some guys go through the NFL for years and then they finally land on a team and thrive, ie Steve Young.
